Discretion Will Preserve You!!

The age-old battle between discretion and desire is as real now as at the beginning of time as you know it. The first man and woman were torn between desire and discretion (common sense) and desire won and they ended up losing everything. Today is no different, the same war continues in your body today, the war between the mind and desire.
Desire triumphed over common sense in Adam and Eve and both lost a lot. What is your battle today? What desire is trying to overcome and overpower your common sense this day? Friend, as much as God’s Word promises that God will give you the desires of your heart not all things your body desires are beneficial for you. Adam and Eve ate something the body desired, but which God, The Creator, very plainly told them to not partake of.
“You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.” (Proverbs 2:16-17 NIV)
For many people this is just another verse which most people assume to not be relevant in this time and age, because they say: “There is no forbidden tree in our time, there is no forbidden fruit.” Friend, this Word of God is as relevant today as it was in the time of Adam and Eve. Wisdom will teach you that every Word of God is to be honoured and respected, since the life of man is dependent on the Word of God. If the Word of God says you will live, then you will live and if the Word of God says you will die then you will die. Adam and Eve were given God-given freedom to eat of all the other trees in the Garden of Eden, but they were commanded to not eat of that one tree. They had freedom to eat to their heart’s content of all the other fruits in the Garden and be satisfied, but they desired to eat of that which was not given to them by God. They succumbed to desire and ate of the forbidden tree, they ate the forbidden fruit and the consequences were that they lost all the other fruits they were free to eat.
I know you want to know, “What does that have to do with me?” You want to know if there is something which you are forbidden to eat from today. Friend if you are at all familiar with the Word of God you will also know the same kind of battle between mind and discretion(common sense) which Adam and Eve were confronted with. You also have come to a fork in the road, will you follow your desire or will you honour the knowledge of God? Will you eat the forbidden fruit and forfeit your life and die or will you honour the Word of God and restrain yourself and live? I know you think that if you were in Eve or Adam’s shoes today that you would “never” eat from that forbidden tree, because you believe you have enough common sense to do the right and sensible thing. After all, who in their right mind would reject life for a fruit?
Well, friend, today you are in Adam and Eve’s shoes, today you are standing at a fork in the road. Today you are told to not eat the forbidden fruit; you are free to eat of all the other fruits, except of the fruit of God.
“Honour the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.” (Proverbs 3:9)
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Trust in the LORD with “all” your heart, that includes trusting God when it comes to your wealth or money, for most people this portion of Scripture is their forbidden fruit, their money. They withhold the firstfruits or offering from God, The Creator, and eat it. Friend, God is saying that you are free to eat all of the money you have except the portion of your money that is due to God, your offering. Today you are at a fork in your road, desire or discretion, eat your offering or honour God with your wealth.
“Do not be wise be in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.” (Proverbs 3:7)

At Home Among The Wise!!

What man/woman would not want to be wise? or What woman/man wants to be a fool? The answer is simple: Nobody wants to be a fool!!

Being wise does not mean that you are a-know-it-all, being wise simply means you avoid evil and end up living longer than you would’ve if you were an idiot.

“The highway of the upright avoids evil; he who guards his way guards his life.” (Proverbs 16:17 NIV)

“Home among the wise” what does that mean? It means “Home among the living”. I would much rather be wise and alive than be an idiot and dead.  All of it comes down to choices; the wise man/woman makes an informed choice while the idiot just goes with the flow, without having sufficient knowledge or understanding. ”He who guards his way guards his life”, what does that mean? Friend it means you who are familiar with where you are and where you would want to end up in life is wiser than the idiot who just goes with the flow of others. It means you who choose a good path over “I don’t know where I am going, but I’m on my way” is more likely to succeed in your endeavours and live a long good life.

Being at home among the wise is all about watching your own back and having your own best interest at heart, no it is not selfish; it is wise. Being wise means to keep your eyes open and to be well-informed about WHERE YOU ARE GOING. Friend, God gave you your own set of eyes and His intention with giving you your own personal set of eyes is for you to look out for yourself.

Friend, your own eyes means you must find your own way and you must guard your own life. Be wise in God’s eyes and use your own eyes for its intended purpose: look out for yourself and guard your life. You were not created to be a mere follower of others; you were created by God to find your own way and to succeed in all good things. God, your Creator did not limit you so do not allow yourself to be limited by others.

Part of being wise is to involve God, your Creator in all your plans. Whether you’re planning to live long (because who said a long life should not be part of your plans? God sure didn’t), get married, have children, be a successful businessman/ woman, achieve good grades, be a good parent, find a good job, husband, wife or run a country, it is always wise to involve your Creator, because He knows things that you don’t know and He wants you to succeed.

“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3 NIV)

You Belong!!

There are many people all over the world looking to find their place, a place where they are accepted and loved  without being discriminated against for not being cool enough, thin enough, tall enough, liked enough or black or white enough. The reality is that some of those people will never find a place to fit in, because they were simply not created to fit in.

There are certain people, who were created by God to stand out and to not fit in with the crowd. The harder they try to fit in the more they discover that they just do not belong. You might be one of those who are considered to be an outsider or not one of the “cool people”, but believe me, if you stop trying so hard to fit in with rest of the world you might just see where you belong.

It is true that some people are born to be leaders, but most strong and effective leaders are people who stand out in the crowd. It might be true that you feel that you are not part of the group, but did you ever consider that there is something different about you for a reason?

I say different, because leaders are standing out from the crowd because they are different and unique. Unique and different because your purpose is different from those of others, a purpose which God, your Creator decided upon from before you were born. The reason you might not fit in with the “cool group” and stand out from others is because God created you for His own special and unique purpose. The reason you are different is because the purpose is unique and different, so don’t worry about the “cool people” and their opinions, they are not in control of your destiny, God is.
Be assured that you are not alone or all by yourself, because God is with you. You have a very unique, special and significant destiny, which is greater than the opinions of people. You are valued, important and you do belong. You belong to God!!

Yes, you are different, because God made you different!! Yes, you don’t fit in, because God created you to stand out!! Yes, you feel separate, because God set you apart!!

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;” (Jeremiah 1:5 NIV)

You were born to be different!!

Friends, God want you to live!! Every message God is giving to you is God saying: ''I want You To Live.''
Every message is another building block to strengthen your faith in God and His Power. Through your faith you will access the blessing and favour of God. The blessing and favour of God will present you with things no human being can give to you. A strong faith in God is rooted in a very solid and clear understanding of God and His Word.

''The just shall live by his faith.''(Habakkuk 2:4 KJV)
(It is really important to understand that You will live by Your faith, Your Faith is Really Important. If you have no faith, little or weak faith you will be the only person who’s life will be directly impacted by that. A strong faith is like a well-developed muscle, you can just do more with it and accomplish greater things.)

Every message is a building block of faith. Your faith is like a massive house that is being built from the ground up, brick by brick, wall by wall, up until it is a complete house full of God's wisdom and knowledge.
Friend, your faith is the key to a long, healthy and prosperous life. Your faith is what needs to develop and increase.

There are different levels of faith, just as there are different levels of wisdom. For your faith to increase you will have to increase in knowledge and God's wisdom. Yes, you believe in God, that is basic faith, basic knowledge. There are greater levels of faith which God wants you to grow into. For that to happen you have to increase in knowledge and wisdom. God says:

''My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge.''  (Hosea 4:6 KJV)

God is not speaking about unbelievers or people who reject His Words. He is talking about ''His people'', people with basic faith who believe in God. He acknowledges and recognizes that they are ''His people'' because they have faith in God, they believe that God exist and even try to please God. Even so, God still says that they are being destroyed, because they lack knowledge.

Friend, God wants you to live; He wants your faith to increase and for that to happen you need to increase in knowledge and wisdom. The just shall ''live by faith'' and for that to happen the just will need to ''increase and grow in knowledge''. If you think my messages are sometimes repetitive it is so you can get the point about a particular issue, so you can remember God's perspective and make it your own.
Friend, if you are serious about living a long life God wants you to know that He is on your side and He wants it as well, His direction will get you there in one piece.
